| Big Wet Fish - Shared / Reseller Website Hosting (8th Jun 09 at 11:46pm BST) A strange name for a hosting company | Quote Reply | Big Wet Fish are a relatively small hosting company who are based in Ireland. I've used them for a few years now for various sites or projects and am, overall, very impressed with their service. Their costs are fantastic. Extremely competitive. Starting at just £10.99 per year - less than £1 per month! But even higher up the scale with the kind of account I use you are only looking at £24.99 per year for 4GB storage and 400GB bandwidth. Their support has both good and bad aspects. They only offer e-mail support which isn't great for when there is a problem with the server as it can take a few hours to get a response. I expect they have some kind of notification system setup but it can still be problematic to not be able to talk to someone and find out what is going on. But on the other hand, their support can be fantastic at times. I'm one of those really annoying customers who ask for server settings to be changed or extra software packages to be installed. And they really go that extra mile to get those kinds of things done for you. I've hosted with a few shared hosting providers in my time, and most would just turn around and say no if you asked them to upgrade the GD library or install something like CURL. But not these guys. Overall, I do recommend this company for any average (UK serving) website. I've also found their servers make an ideal testing environment because of their willingness to install the required modules and the value for money they give. | |
