CMS Software (13th Aug 09 at 11:51pm BST)Quote Reply
The company I work with has been building a piece of Content Management software which meets the needs of all their clients such as being easy to use, seo friendly and having plenty of modular functionality. Another web development company have been out sourcing a little bit of work to us but this is for making changes to their Joomla based websites.

So this got me thinking on what kind of CMS do people look for when picking a web developer or website host? Do you go for something open source with a large community behind them or something custom written by yourself / your web developer to specifically meet your needs?

Personally, I'd go with the custom built solution. I find that all the open source software I have tried in the past is too cluttered with unneeded functionality which makes it hard to customize and difficult to use.
